Gavin Newsom says his progressive policies are why Republicans are trying to recall him
bby Nathan'ette Burdine: March 25, 2021

California Governor Gavin Newsom says his progressive agenda, not his COVID-19 policies, is the reason why the Republicans’ panties are all up in a bunch so to the point that they are trekking up and down the California coast, gathering the 1.4 million plus signatures needed in order to remove him from the job the residents of California duly elected him to do.

“It’s about immigration. It’s about our health care policies. It’s about our criminal justice reform. It’s about the diversity of the state. It’s about our clean air, clean water programs, meeting our environmental strategies,” is what the Associated Press folks say Gavin Newsom told the KQED folks .

Thomas (Tommy) Del Beccaro is the fella whose group RescueCalifornia.org is leading the recall effort to help Gavin Newsom find another job.

Ol’ Tommy, there, is a Republican, through and through, and his GOP credentials include being the former Chairman of the Republican Party in California, an author of a book (The Divided Era and The New Conservative Paradigm) focusing on how to make conservatism great again, as well as a contributor to the FOX Business Network.

However, Ol’ Tommy doesn’t want y’all thinking this is about red versus blue. He wants y’all thinking the recall effort to get Gavin Newsom out of his current job is all about them versus us with the them being Gavin Newsom and his money bag buddies, and us being the working class and middle class folks and rich and wealthy Republicans who’ve been at the short end of the stick during the coronavirus pandemic.

Here’s what ol’ Tommy , there, wrote and then uploaded on FOX News website, “Yes, California is headed to a recall election this fall of its Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. The reasons why, as I have written before, are many including a failed response to COVID and jobs and businesses leaving the state at a record pace.”

Ol’ Tommy, there, went on to say that despite what Gavin Newsom says about Republicans being just haters of all things progressive, he, ol’ Tommy, is a fan of reasonable progressive policies.

And what ol’ Tommy, there, defines as reasonable progressive policies are better management of the state’s energy resources, getting rid of foolish policies like requiring Californians to use 50 gallons of water a day, stop raising taxes sky high in order to squeeze the life out of businesses, stop the borrowing from Peter to pay Paul and praying that Jesus will forgive it all policy that has led to California being head deep in debt, and finding somebody to help the state get through this COVID-19 mess.

As evidence of his claims not being like a broken clock that’s only right once a day, ol’ Tommy, there, points to the 1.6 million plus signatures that he says are from Independents, Democrats, and Republicans who are all united in their efforts to send Gavin Newsom back to San Francisco.

And due to the 1.6 million plus signatures being more than enough, which will be 12% (1,495,709) of the votes (12,464,235) cast in the last governor’s race, ol’ Tommy, there, is more positive than a real baby daddy test that the recall effort will lead to Gavin Newsom taking the first private jet off the runway out of Sacramento back to San Francisco.

It’s not like it’s impossible for Californians to give Gavin Newsom the boot. They did it some 18 years ago, in 2003, when they traded Democratic Governor Gray Davis for Arnold Schwarzenegger who ended up serving a full term after winning the 2006 California gubernatorial election.

So yeah, Californians don’t have a problem replacing a bad Democratic governor with a freshmen Republican politician.

Now, don’t y’all go ragging on me, saying I’m just being mean and ornery towards ol’ Gavin, there.

The thing y’all gotta understand is that ol’ Gavin, there, hogtied himself when he decided, on the sixth day of November 2020, to go out to a fancy restaurant to enjoy the evening with his wife and their money bag buddies.

All that did was seal ol’ Gavin’s, there, fate because it reinforce a good number of Californians’ view of Democrats and Republicans as stereotypical politicians whose real interests lies with the highest paying contributor to their campaigns.

Yes, the Republicans were included because they also have a natural tendency to side with their money bag buddies over their potato sack constituents.

The attention, though, isn’t on the Republicans because they aren’t in control of California’s government. The Democrats are. And it was the Democratic governor who locked working class and middle class Californians in their houses while he, his wife, and their money bag buddies went out for a night on the town to enjoy the cuisine at the French Laundry, an upscale restaurant located in Napa County where money flows like wine from a grapevine.

After getting caught, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a crocodile tear apology in order to hide the fact that he had imprisoned Californians in their homes with their families and dogs, while he and his high-falutin buddies roamed scot-free up and down the California coast: “I made a bad mistake. I should have stood up…drove back to my house. The spirit of what I’m preaching all the times was contradicted. I need to preach and practice, not just preach.”

Well…y’all know people. One wrong causes people to think about all the wrong you’ve done. In Gavin Newsom’s case, folks began thinking about how the governor’s stringent coronavirus policies did more to increase the number of businesses that closed and the number of customers in the food lines than it did to decrease the coronavirus population rate.

Due to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s actions being contrary to what he was telling Californians to do in order to remain safe during the coronavirus pandemic, the ol’ political excuse of “they hurt you by hurting me” is not working for him.

Over 1.6 million Californians have instead decided to use the recall effort in order to help Gavin Newsom find a job more fitting to his unique skill set of bankrupting everybody by shutting everything down.
